Sunridge Court is a warm and friendly care home in the heart of Golders Green. It has built an enviable reputation in the local community throughout its rich history, most recently joining Jewish Care in 2021.

The valued and highly trained staff work hard to create a friendly atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble. They are available 24 hours a day to meet all the residents’ needs.

The care home has strong links with organisations in the Jewish community, so residents remain firmly part of it. Working with local synagogues means that residents can fulfil their spiritual and cultural needs too.

Sunridge Court has 44 private bedrooms, each with an en-suite. Residents can bring their own belongings with them to truly personalise their living space.

Elsewhere in the care home, residents like to sit together in the large sun lounge to read, relax and enjoy the view of the gardens. It is a wonderful place to watch the birds and the wind in the trees. The beautiful, landscaped gardens provide plenty of fresh air and green space to wander all year round.

In addition to the living space, Sunridge Court offers enriching activities and food. There is a daily programme of meaningful and varied activities, and a full menu of nutritious meals. See the Activities and Food sections for more information.

A tasty and nutritious meal for every breakfast, lunch and supper.

Sunridge Court uses fully kosher certified food products and suppliers (not supervised). They do not follow Kashrut – meat and milk are not kept separately.

We place traditional Jewish values at the heart of all we do at Jewish Care. That’s why we ensure that every breakfast, lunch and supper served in our care homes is tasty, nutritious and kosher (or kosher-style). All our services use kosher ingredients and recipes, and our staff are trained in preparing food in a kosher way. Please contact us to find out more about this.

Meals at Sunridge Court

The team of skilled chefs plan and prepare a varied menu of meals each week. They meet with residents and relatives to ensure that they cater to every palette.

Mealtimes are social times, where residents enjoy tasty kosher-style meals together. Traditional foods help residents remember and mark key moments in the Jewish calendar; challah on Shabbat,
doughnuts for Chanukah, honey cake for Rosh Hashanah and hamantaschen for Purim. These are all part of what makes Jewish life so important in our homes.

Make your visit a day to remember with some great things to do and see in the area.

Sunridge Court is in Golders Green, the heart of North London Jewish community. There are lots of things to do in the local area to help make your stay or visit even more memorable:

Golders Green Road shops, cafés and restaurants (0.6 miles)

This bustling road has a whole host of shops and kosher eateries to suit all tastes. It’s ideal for popping out for lunch or a browse around the shops. Here you will find Head Room Café – a community café run by our partner organisation Jami.

Golders Hill Park (1.1 miles)

A beautiful, landscaped park with plenty to see and do all year round. There is a café, zoo, children’s playground, walled garden, and more.

Brent Cross Shopping Centre (1.5 miles)

There are 120 shops and over 30 cafés, takeaways and restaurants. There is The Kanteen, a family-run kosher restaurant and coffee shop. The menu combines American food like waffles and soft ice cream, Mediterranean favourites like salads and Pastas, and Middle Eastern food like falafels, borekas and shakshuka.

Fenton House (1.9 miles)

A handsome 17th-century house with unusual collections and picturesque walled gardens. It is filled with highly decorative collections of porcelain, Georgian furniture and 17th-century needlework. The renowned, ever-changing garden includes an orchard, kitchen garden, rose garden, terraces and lawns.

Hampstead Heath (1.9 miles)

A wild park of woodland and meadows. It sprawls over 800 acres and boasts some of the most spectacular views in the city. It has lots of different habitats for wildlife and more than 30 lakes and ponds. All these in one place – and in the middle of a city – means it’s quite special and important to London and to the UK.

Kenwood House, Hampstead Heath (2.5 miles)

The former stately home sits on the edge of Hampstead Heath and is surrounded by landscaped gardens. The interiors and world-class art collection are free for everyone to enjoy. There are children’s activities, a café to relax in and acres of grounds to wander.

In the mid-1960s a group of friends recognised the need for a rather different care home.

They were all supporters of what was then called the Home for Aged Jews in Nightingale Lane, Wandsworth. This care home looked after around 400 residents, almost all of whom were first generation immigrants to the UK.

The group decided to build Sunridge Court. The vision at the time was that it would be a much smaller Home (a home from home), that it would be based in North West London and that it would be for more established Jews as well as immigrants.

In 1969 the foundation stone was laid for a purpose-built 26 bed residential home in Golders Green. Demand was soon such that in around 1980 they took the opportunity to buy the two houses next door which became known as the Extension. Subsequently, the Extension and the main building were joined to form the 45 bed home that exists today.

Sunridge Court was a Housing Association and therefore treated as a charity. It was run by a committee made up of volunteers and the Home’s manager. In the beginning, Committee members were very ‘hands on’ doing the cooking, admissions and administration.

In 2013, an Executive Director was appointed to oversee the running of the Home at a more strategic level, and to lead the professional Senior Management Team.

In 2021, Sunridge Court joined Jewish Care to become one of its ten care homes. Colleagues at Jewish Care and Sunridge Court had built strong professional relationships over the last ten years, with the two organisations talking about coming together to benefit everyone. The decision was made in order to guarantee Sunridge Court’s continued success for now and in the future.

Throughout all this change, the Home prides itself that there have been many long serving managers and staff, and that it continues to be highly regarded by its residents, their families and friends and the wider community. Today it has well trained and qualified staff as well as the professional management required to respond to the diverse and individual needs of the residents.

It is all these people who are at the core of this story – thank you for making Sunridge Court such a special community.
